Traditionally made with cow’s milk, Haldi Doodh has long been consumed for its many benefits, from fighting a common cold to reducing inflammation.
The drink has recently blown up in the west, appearing on trendy coffee shop menus around the city. But this simple recipe can be created at home with a few simple zero-waste ingredients.

Cuisine Indian
Servings 12 lattes
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup coconut milk powder
- 4 tsp ground turmeric
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 4 tsp coconut sugar optional
Instructions
To make the DIY mix:
- Sift all ingredients into a bowl and whisk together. Transfer to a jar and store for up to two months.
To prepare a latte:
- Mix 1 tsp of DIY mix with 250 MLS of hot milk of choice; I love oats or soy. For best results: Heat milk over the stovetop or microwave, and add the DIY mix as the milk starts to heat to help it meld together nicely. Use a milk frother for a cafe shop finish.

Thanks for the recipe! How long will it last in the fridge?
I’d say you can keep it in the fridge for up to six months. The coconut milk powder can sour over time but as long as it tastes fresh, you should be good.
